Meet #bartaileboss and blogger Jewel Hazelton.
1.) Basic, simple question: who are you and what do you do?
Hi, I’m Jewel Hazelton. I’m a marketing and communications professional by day and I’ve run my own lifestyle blog for the past eight years.
2.) Where are you currently based?
I currently live in Atlanta.
3.) What are three of your goals this year and how do you plan to reach them?
This year I plan to rebrand my blog. I’ve been blogging for eight years and I feel as if it's time for it to grow up a bit. Secondly, I set a goal to enhance myself professionally so I can keep growing in my career. Each month I’ll register for a new class that will allow me to grow my passion in a particular area (last month I took an email marketing course). Lastly, I want to work toward becoming financially free. Last year I set a budget and paid off a ton of debt. This year I want to save and invest.
4.) Can you describe a moment in your career where one decision had a really big impact? What did that moment look like and where did it lead?
I would saying launch my blog in 2010. At the time I had no clue where it would take me and how many connections I would make because of it.
5.) What's one thing you wish to see change in the world over the next five years? I’d love to see more women and minorities in leadership positions.
6.) How do you remain motivated, inspired?
God. Family. Friends. My circle keeps me motivated every day. I’m truly blessed to have such a great support system.
7.) What's your favorite app and/or piece of tech and why?
My new iPhone 8s. I just discovered portrait mode—a complete game changer for my blog.
8.) What does your morning routine look like?
I’m a morning person. My body clock typically wakes me up around 6 am. My mornings start with me scrolling through my social feeds, checking emails, grabbing a quick bite to eat and trying to fit in a workout all before work.
9.) What's on your reading list?
My reading list is super long. I love collecting books. Next up on my list is the StrengthsFinder book. I heard it’s a great for finding out your work personality and management style.
10.) Who's your woman in tech/business icon?
I would say Jacklyn Johnson, the founder of Create & Cultivate. I love that she inspires so many females to start their own businesses. I attended Create & Cultivate in 2017 and it was such a great opportunity to connect with so many bloggers and business owners who are disrupting so many industries.
